This is going to be a small post, but it's been a question I've seen a few times in the last few months. The UMRA error you may see is "A device attached to the system is not functioning". Now, this is a comman error you may see, and hopefully this quick post will get you pointed into the right direction.
Test Enviorment
UMRA Version: 10.5
OS Version: Server 2008 R2
Most of the time you will see this error when you use the UMRA Create User action, now you might see it in other instances, and they will follow the same guidelines to fix the problem as the UMRA Create User action. The top 2 reasons why you will see this are below.
Problem #1
1. The username you are trying to use for the user, is above 21 characters in length. Active Directory has a limit of 21 char. for the username.
Solution Problem #1
- Try to trim down your username you are creating or trying to set.
Problem #2
1. Another Active Directory attribute that you are trying to set not in the correct format, or to long for the Active Directory length limit.
Solution Problem #2
- Try to trim down the new attribute value, or set the value to the correct format before setting.
